Announcing a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for young adults identifying as queer through the MIDTOWN ATLANTA QUEER SUPPORT group.
Sometimes it is challenging to connect with other members of the community in meaningful ways. Many find themselves distanced or isolated from family, old friends, or community while knowing there is a more authentic version of yourself to be discovered… a version you want to share with the significant people in your life. Walking alongside others who understand and embrace your journey can make it easier and more rewarding.
To encourage interaction and support, this group will be limited to no more than eight individuals identifying as members of the queer community around the ages of 18 to 25. (We do offer some flexibility regarding age, so if you are interested in joining the group, please connect with us.)
The group will meet Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, beginning May 6, 2020 through June 10, 2020. The total cost for this six-week program is only $150.
To strengthen privacy and safety, we require a brief individual consultation prior to the first group meeting. After registering, prospective group members will be contacted to schedule the initial consultation. The cost of the consultation is $45 (fee may be waived if referred by a psychotherapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist).
Please note: your participation in group meetings may be covered by health insurance or employee benefit plans. Please check with your individual coverage. While we do not file insurance claims, we can provide the necessary documentation to submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement if available.
The group is facilitated by Powell Burke, who is a clinical social worker and psychotherapist experienced with the queer community and knowledgeable about the unique challenges faced by members of the community.
